Log in & your dashboard
Once you have access, you sign in through the browser - nothing to install. Here is how to log in and get your bearings on the dashboard, your home base in the platform.
CHORUS runs in your browser - sign in and you land on the dashboard, your home base for workspaces, sessions, data, and the App Store.
Signing in
CHORUS is fully browser-based - there is nothing to install, and nothing to configure on your machine.
Sign in with the credentials for your instance. Most institutions use your existing institutional login, so it is the same account you use elsewhere at work; some run a separate accreditation step first. The first time you sign in, you are asked to accept the terms of use.
If you do not have access yet, see Before you start - accounts come from the institution running the instance, not from CHORUS.
What is on the dashboard
The dashboard is where you land after signing in, and where you come back to. From it you reach the main areas of the platform:
- Workspaces - the secure environments where projects live. See What a workspace is.
- Sessions - your running working environments inside a workspace.
- Data - the datasets you are allowed to reach, and where you manage your own.
- App Store - the catalogue of tools you can launch.
Picking up where you left off
The dashboard shows your recent activity and any sessions still running, so returning to work is a matter of finding the session rather than setting everything up again.
Two things are worth knowing early:
Your workspaces are listed, and only yours. Personal workspaces are private to you; collaborative ones appear because you have been given a role in them. You will not see workspaces you are not part of - they are not hidden from you so much as genuinely unreachable.
Sessions keep running when you close the tab. Signing out of the browser does not stop your work. That is usually what you want for a long analysis, but it also means a session left running is still consuming resources - see Resources & lifecycle.
What is next
With your bearings, the next step is a workspace to hold your data and tools - or follow Run your first analysis to see the whole path in one go.
