Communities

Reference

The communities running on CHORUS today - each with its own data, tools and governance, on the same shared platform.

In short

Access is granted per community, so joining one is a separate step from joining another. CHORUS.HIP is the one with its own full documentation on this site.

CHORUS.HIP

The Human Intracerebral EEG Platform - the community for intracerebral EEG and neuroimaging research.

It brings together rare and highly sensitive iEEG recordings from participating hospitals across Europe, standardized to BIDS-iEEG so that data from different centres can be worked on together. Its tool catalogue is built for the field: Brainstorm, AnyWave, 3D Slicer, FreeSurfer, CiCLONE, The Virtual Brain and others.

Access runs on an EBRAINS account plus HIP accreditation, and every user belongs to a group corresponding to a participating institution. Data arrives under a transfer agreement, and the institution that provided it keeps authority over how it is used.

Operational since 2022, and now built on CHORUS.

CHORUS.CHUV

The institutional community at Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), where CHORUS is developed. An institutional community differs from a domain community in what groups its users: an organization rather than a research field.

Starting a new community

The ecosystem is growing, and a community does not have to be large to be worth having - what it needs is a field or an institution with data to govern and people to govern it.

An institution can deploy its own CHORUS instance and stand up a community on it, inheriting the architecture, the security model and the governed lifecycle rather than building them. See Get involved.
