Get involved
There are four ways in, depending on whether you want to use CHORUS, bring work to it, run it, or read how it is built.
Join an existing community, bring a project onto the platform, deploy your own instance, or read and reuse the code under CHUV's academic licence.
Join a community
Access is granted per community, and each one runs its own admission process - so joining is a matter of going to that community rather than to CHORUS in general.
Request access to CHORUS.HIP →If the community you need does not exist yet, the last two routes on this page are the relevant ones.
Bring a project onto the platform
If your institution already runs CHORUS, a research project joins through its own route: the project is described, its authorisations are checked, and a workspace is provisioned for it. You do not create one yourself - see Before you start.
What is worth knowing early is that the paperwork usually takes longer than anything technical. Ethics approval, the lawful basis, and any transfer agreements between institutions all have to be in place before data can move.
Deploy CHORUS at your institution
Institutions can run CHORUS on their own secure infrastructure and, if they wish, join the federation - keeping their own governance while connecting to communities on other deployments.
Get in touch at chorus-tre@chuv.ch to talk through what that involves for your institution.
Read and reuse the code
The CHORUS platform is source-visible: the code is published so you can read it, verify for yourself how isolation, authentication, controlled import and export, and audit are actually implemented, and reuse it under the terms of CHUV's academic non-commercial research licence.
That licence is not an OSI-approved open-source licence - it does not permit unrestricted redistribution or commercial resale. The third-party components CHORUS is assembled from are open source. For non-academic or commercial use, a request to CHUV is required.
